Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya

Life at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya in Bankura is pretty steady. We are located out in Rajagram, in the Kalpathar area. It’s a bit away from the main town noise, which is nice for the students who live here. The campus is quite large, and there is always some dust blowing across the grounds when the wind picks up. We have a routine that everyone follows, from the morning bell to the time lights go out in the hostels. The classrooms are basic but they serve the purpose. We spend a lot of our time looking after the kids and making sure the kitchen is running okay. Sometimes the water supply is a bit slow, but we manage. You see a lot of green around here, especially after the rains. It’s a quiet place for the most part, except when the kids are out on the field playing. We don’t have any big corporate offices or anything, just the main administrative building where we keep all the records. The local staff mostly comes from nearby villages. We’ve been part of this community for years. If you’re coming from the main road, you just follow the signs toward Kalpathar. It’s a long walk if you don’t have a cycle or a bike. We just keep things moving, one day at a time, making sure the kids have what they need to study and grow up in a decent environment.
