We are located about 16 kilometers away from the main part of Panipat, out in a place called Bapoli. It’s a bit of a trek to get out here, but for the families living in this area, we are the main spot for their children’s education. The road can be a bit bumpy, and in the summer, the sun really beats down on the open fields around the school. We have a decent-sized building with several rooms, though we always feel like we could use a bit more space. The playground is just a patch of ground where the kids play cricket or run around during their break time. We don't have a lot of fancy equipment. Most of our teaching is done with old-fashioned textbooks and blackboards. The teachers often commute from the city, so they arrive together and leave together when the day is done. You can see the dust kicking up when the school bus arrives in the morning. It’s a very local operation, and we know most of the parents by their first names. We spend a lot of time just keeping the kids on track and making sure the registers are filled out correctly. It isn't a corporate environment at all; it’s more like a big, slightly messy family. We have some trees near the entrance that we try to keep watered, though it’s tough in the dry season. We just do our best to provide a place for learning.
