We are tucked away near the Jagadhari Gate area in Ambala. Sohan Lal Dav Girls Senior Secondary School has a lot of history in this part of town. The building is old, and you can see it in the architecture and the thick walls that keep the heat out in the summer. It’s a school for girls, and we’ve seen generations of them pass through these doors. Being near the gate, it gets a bit crowded with shoppers and rickshaws outside, but once you step inside, it’s a different world. We have a courtyard where the girls gather for assembly. The bells we use are the old metal ones that you hit with a hammer. It’s a loud, ringing sound that everyone knows. We don't have a lot of modern luxury. The benches are worn down and the library books have that old paper smell. We focus on getting the syllabus finished and making sure the girls are ready for their finals. The teachers here are quite strict but they care a lot. We don't spend money on fancy brochures. If you want to know about us, you just come to the Jagadhari Gate and ask anyone. They’ll point you to the right place. We just keep doing what we’ve been doing for years, one day after another. We are just a local institution for the girls here.
