Wahid Bhai & Sons

At Wahid Bhai & Sons, we occupy shop number 9 in the New Sabji Mandi area by the New Bus Stand. My father started this and now we all work here together. It is a family thing, so there is always someone around to help out or drink a cup of chai with. The location is loud because of all the people traveling and the buses honking constantly, but we have gotten used to it over the years. We deal with whatever comes in from the trucks each morning. Sometimes the weather makes it hard, like when it rains and the ground gets all muddy, but we keep the doors open. We don't have a big corporate team or anything. It is just us and a few guys who help with the heavy lifting. The shop isn't very big, so we have to stack the bags high up to the ceiling to make room for everyone to walk. We keep our records in simple notebooks and try to keep track of who owes what. It is a simple life and we don't try to make it sound more important than it is. We just want to finish the day's work and go home to our families. If you walk past the bus stand and see shop 9, that's us sitting there among the sacks and scales. We have been part of this market for a long time and we know most people by name.
