We are over at Krishi Mandi 15. The mandi is a loud place especially during harvest time when the tractors are lining up outside. It gets dusty and there’s a lot of shouting back and forth between the stalls. M S Mohan Lal & Company has been in this spot for a good bit of time now. We handle mostly grains and things like that. Most of our day is spent checking the bags and writing down numbers in our old ledgers. We don't use many computers here, mostly just pens and paper. The ceiling is high but it gets stuffy in the summer. We have a few guys who help with the heavy lifting because those bags are no joke. Sometimes the tea man comes by and that’s usually the highlight of the afternoon. Dealing with the farmers is the main part of the job. They come in tired and we try to get things sorted out as quick as we can. It’s a simple life. We don’t have fancy signs or a waiting room. Just some chairs and a lot of work to get through before the sun sets. The floor is always covered in a bit of grain dust. You get used to it after a few weeks. It’s just a regular business in a busy market.
