About Mahaveer Dying Industries – Chemicals in Pali
Working down at Mandia Road Industrial Area E 14 means dealing with a lot of heat and the smell of chemicals every single day. Mahaveer Dying Industries is where we spend most of our waking hours, surrounded by vats and fabric that needs coloring. It’s loud in here because the machines never really stop for long, and you have to yell a bit just to be heard over the noise. We aren't wearing suits or sitting in air-conditioned offices; it’s more about getting your hands dirty and making sure the shades come out right. The industrial area is a bit gray and dusty, but that’s just where this kind of work happens. We take the raw materials and try to get the process finished so the next person in the chain can do their part. Sometimes a batch doesn't go perfect and we have to figure out why, which usually involves a lot of looking at pipes and checking temperatures. It’s physical work that leaves you tired by the end of the shift. We’ve been at this spot for a good while, and the walls show the age of the building. There’s no lobby or anything like that, just the workspace and a small area to keep our stuff while we work. We just focus on getting the fabric dyed and out the door so we can start on the next pile waiting in the corner. It’s just how we make a living out here in this part of town.
