About Tulsi Papad Mill – Food & Beverages in Palghar
Over in Dhawari, near Post Jawahar Nagar, is where we run Tulsi Papad Mill. It’s not a giant factory or anything. It's a place where we spend our days making papads. The smell of spices is always in the air here. We have a few machines but a lot of the work is still done by hand because that's how the texture stays right. We dry them out when the sun is strong enough. If it rains, everything slows down and we have to move things inside quickly. The area around Dhawari is quiet for the most part, which is nice. We supply the local markets and sometimes send crates to the nearby towns. The team here is just local people from the village. We started small and just kept going over the years. My hands are usually covered in flour by noon. We don't spend money on fancy packaging. We just use plain plastic wraps so people can see what they are getting. It's hard work standing on your feet all day, but seeing the finished stacks of papads feels good. We usually have the radio playing in the background to keep everyone moving. Sometimes the neighbors come by just to chat or buy a small packet for dinner. It's just a regular mill doing regular work every day of the week. We like the rhythm of it and the way the spice smells stay on our clothes even after we go home.
