S M Forging And Engg Works

S M Forging and Engg Works is tucked away in D 2 over in Mira Road East. Being in Miragaon means we’re right in the thick of it. The workshop is mostly metal and grease, exactly how you'd expect an engineering place to look. We spend most of our time dealing with parts and hammers. It gets loud, especially in the afternoons when everyone is at their stations. We started out small and stayed that way because it’s easier to manage. My brother and I run the daily operations, and we have a few helpers who know the equipment well. We don't have a big reception area or anything. If someone shows up, they usually find us at the back with our sleeves rolled up. The commute out here can be a pain sometimes because of the road conditions, but we make it work. Most of our tools have been with us for years. They're old but they get the job done right. Sometimes the local power grid acts up, so we just take a break until it’s back. It’s honest work. We don't try to be anything we aren't. We just take the drawings or the broken parts people bring and see what we can do with them. It’s been our life for quite some time now at this spot. We keep a pot of tea going for anyone who stops by. The floor is concrete and scarred from years of heavy work. We like it that way because it shows we’ve been busy. There is always a pile of scrap metal in the corner waiting to be cleared.
