Gaurav Rice Mill

Gaurav Rice Mill is located at No. S-8 in the Phase 8 area of Sona Makhal. It is right in Bhayandar East, and we are not too far from the Saibaba Mandir, so you can often hear the temple bells ringing during the day. The mill is a busy place, especially when a new shipment of rice comes in. There is always the hum of the machinery in the background, and the whole place smells like raw husks and grain. We spend a lot of time sorting through the rice and making sure the machines are hulling everything properly. It is quite a process, and it can get very dusty inside when the fans are blowing. The neighbors are used to the noise by now, I think. We have a lot of regular people who come by from the local area to get their rice processed. The space is mostly taken up by the big milling equipment and rows of heavy jute bags filled to the brim. Sometimes the humidity in Bhayandar makes the work feel even heavier, but we just keep at it. It is not a glamorous job, but someone has to make sure the rice is ready for the kitchen. We try to keep the area near the entrance clear, but there is usually a truck or a small tempo loading up something. It is just the way it goes.
