Grifin Surgical Drills

Our workshop is over in Bhayandar East, which is a busy part of the Thane district. We’ve been in this same spot for a good number of years. It’s a bit of a trek from the main station, but we like it here. The space is filled with lathes and small tools because we make surgical drills. It’s quiet work in some ways but the machines make a steady hum all day long. We have to be careful with the measurements, so there’s a lot of squinting at small parts. It’s not a huge factory with a thousand workers. It’s just a handful of us who know how to handle the metal. Most of our days are spent checking and re-checking things. The floor is usually covered in metal shavings by the afternoon. We don’t have a receptionist or a big lobby. Usually, if someone comes by, one of the guys just wipes their hands and goes to the door. We drink a lot of tea to keep going. Bhayandar gets really humid, so we keep the fans running at full speed. It’s a practical business. We don't put out fancy catalogs or go to big meetings. We just focus on making sure the drills are right before they get packed into boxes. It’s honest work and it keeps us busy from Monday to Saturday. Sometimes we stay late when a big order needs to go out.
