Tej Bhan Topan Dass

Tej Bhan Topan Dass is located at D-421 in the New Subzi Mandi area of Azadpur. If you know this part of Delhi, you know it is always crowded and there is always something being moved from a truck to a stall. We have been working out of this space for a long time. It is a simple setup with just enough room for the essentials. Most of our day is spent talking to traders and making sure the counts are right. The mandi has its own rhythm and we just follow it. In the mornings it is pure chaos with everyone shouting prices, and by the afternoon we are mostly just tidying up and finishing the paperwork. It gets quite hot under the tin roofs in the summer, so we have a few old fans that never stop spinning. Our name has been around for a while, and people in the market know where to find us. We don’t do much in the way of fancy advertisements or anything like that. We just show up, open the shutters, and get to work with the goods. There is always a layer of dust from the crates and the floors are never perfectly clean, but that is just how a busy trading spot looks. We drink a lot of chai and keep the business running one day at a time. It is straightforward work and it keeps us busy from dawn till dusk.
