If you look for us in the Shalamar Industrial Area, you have to find Lane No 3. Our place is 902/290, and it’s tucked away behind some other big warehouses and workshops. Surajbala Exports Pvt. Ltd. has been operating out of this industrial zone for quite some time now. It’s a rough and tumble kind of place, with heavy trucks blocking the lanes and people constantly moving pallets around on jacks. Our building is mostly a storage space with a small section for the administrative work we have to do. It’s not the cleanest place in the world because of all the dust from the industrial area, but it serves its purpose for what we need. We deal with exports, so we are always checking quantities and making sure the packing is sturdy enough for a long trip across the ocean. Lane No 3 can get pretty muddy when it rains, and sometimes the delivery vans have a hard time turning around. We just work through it, though. There is always a lot of shouting and banging going on outside from the neighbors, but we’re used to it by now. We don't have a marketing team or anyone like that. It’s just the owners and a few workers making sure the orders go out on time. We take our lunch breaks together and talk about whatever is happening. It’s a practical way to run things.
