If you’re looking for Gali No. 17 in Tulsi Nagar, you have to be careful not to miss the turn. It’s a narrow lane in Inder Lok, and that’s where Standard Enterprises India is based. We are at 313/104D. It’s a tall, narrow building like most of the others in this part of Delhi. We’ve been here for years, through the hot summers and the rainy seasons when the lane gets a bit flooded. We do a bit of everything here. It’s a small enterprise, so nobody has just one job. One minute you’re handling an order, and the next you’re helping carry a crate up the stairs because there’s no lift. The light in the workspace isn't the best, but we know the layout of the place by heart. We don’t have a receptionist or a lobby with magazines. Usually, you just walk in and find someone working at a bench or a desk covered in papers. It’s a family-run feel, even if we aren’t all related. We drink a lot of chai and talk about the local market prices. We don't have big goals of becoming a multinational. We just want to keep the shop running and make sure our customers are happy with what we send them. It’s a simple life in a busy neighborhood. We’ve seen the area change a lot, but our little corner in Gali 17 stays pretty much the same.
