Rainu Engineering Works

Shahzada Bagh Industrial Area is where we set up shop, right at 308/1 near Daya Basti. It’s an old part of the industrial landscape along Old Rohtak Road. You can smell the metal and the oil as soon as you turn into the lane. The building has seen a lot of years, and the walls have that weathered look you only get from decades of engineering work. Inside, it’s a maze of lathes and welding stations. We don’t go in for modern glass interiors. Our workspace is functional and a bit dark, but it’s where the real work gets done. The sparks from the grinders are a common sight, and the smell of ozone from the welding is always in the air. We have a small crew of workers who know these machines like the back of their hands. They don’t talk much while they’re working, but they get the job finished. Sometimes the power cuts out and we have to wait for the generator to kick in, which is just part of life in this area. We drink our tea from the small stall outside the gate twice a day. The trucks come in and out of Daya Basti constantly, making the road outside quite dusty. It’s a gritty place, but we’ve been here a long time and wouldn’t know what to do with a clean, quiet office. Rainu Engineering Works is just a place for people who like to build and fix things with their own hands.
