Pankaj Exports is based at No. A-109 in the Wazirpur Industrial Area. It’s a pretty standard industrial unit where we focus on getting the work done. The area is always buzzing with people and vehicles. Inside our space, there are always crates being moved around or stuff being measured. We don’t have a lot of decoration on the walls, mostly just calendars and some old notes taped up. The workspace is where everything happens. We have some heavy equipment and it takes up a lot of room. The floor is just plain cement and it’s seen a lot of wear over the years. We start the day early to beat some of the heat. By mid-morning, the whole place is noisy. We have a small table where we keep the ledger and the phone. It’s not the kind of place where you’d find a conference room. We just talk over the sound of the fans. Most of our time is spent making sure the packing is done right and the orders are ready for the transport companies to pick up. We often stay late if there is a big shipment going out. It is tiring work but it’s steady. We don’t really bother with big speeches about what we do. We just keep our heads down and handle the daily tasks. It’s a simple, local business and we are fine with that.
