Not Working Currently

We’ve been here at House No 1846 on the second floor for a while now. Outram Lane in Kingsway Camp is always a bit noisy with the students and the traffic from the main road nearby. It’s just how Delhi is, I guess. Our name is Not Working Currently, which sounds funny when you say it out loud, but it’s what’s on the door. Up here on the second floor, you can see a bit of the trees and the rooftops of the neighboring houses. It gets really hot in the summer, so we keep the fans going all day. People walk by downstairs all the time, going to the market or heading home from the metro. We don’t have any fancy signs or big lights outside. Most people just know us because we’ve been at this spot for so long. Sometimes the courier guy gets lost because there are so many lanes around here, but he eventually finds 1846. It’s a simple setup. We have some desks, a few chairs that aren’t the most comfortable, and a small kettle for tea. We spend most of our time just handling whatever comes through the door. It isn’t much to look at from the street, but it works for us. We like the neighborhood even with the dust and the constant sound of rickshaws. Life here moves at its own pace and we just try to keep up with it day by day. It’s not a big corporate office, just a place where we sit and get things done.
