Monika Design Studio

If you go into Wazirpur Village in Ashok Vihar, you’ll find us at WP-587. Monika Design Studio is a small place tucked into the residential area. It’s not like those big malls you see nearby. It’s more of a local workshop feel. We have a couple of tables where we do all the cutting and designing. The lighting isn't the best, so we use some extra lamps when we are working on small details. I started this because I like making things, and it just grew from there. It’s not always easy. Sometimes the fabric we get isn't the right color or the measurements are slightly off, so we have to fix it. We don't have a big staff, just me and a helper who comes in most days. We drink a lot of tea while we work and listen to the radio. The neighbors usually stop by to chat or see what we are working on. It’s a nice community feel. We don’t really do any big promotions or sales. We just do our work and hope people like it enough to tell their friends. The space is a bit small and we are always running out of room for our thread and buttons. But it’s where we do our best work. It’s a quiet life most of the time, and we prefer it that way instead of the big city rush.
