Ifc International is based at B-153 in the New Fruit Market at Azadpur. If you’ve ever been to Azadpur, you know it’s the biggest market of its kind and it never really sleeps. We’re right in the thick of it. Our space at B-153 is mostly just a place to store crates and keep our records. It’s dusty and loud, but that’s the reality of the fruit trade. We deal with growers and transporters all day long. There isn't any fancy furniture here, just some sturdy chairs and a desk that’s seen better days. We’ve been operating under the name Ifc International for a while. The work is mostly about timing and making sure things don’t sit around too long. In the mornings, the traffic inside the New Fruit Market is unbelievable. You have to be careful where you walk with all the handcarts and trucks moving about. We don’t have a marketing department or a polished image. We just know the market and the people who work in it. Sometimes the weather makes things difficult, but we manage. Most of our days are spent negotiating prices and checking the quality of the arrivals. It’s a tough environment but we’ve gotten used to it over the years. Being at B-153 puts us right where we need to be to keep an eye on everything. We just take it one shipment at a time and keep going.
