Gauba Plastics

Gauba Plastics has been operating out of the D.S.I.D.C Complex on Lawrence Road for quite some time. Specifically, we are in block B-70, unit 47. If you know the area, you know it’s a lot of small units all packed in together. We deal with plastic parts, so there is always that specific smell of warm resin in the air when the machines are on. It’s a busy place with a lot of heavy lifting. We spend most of our mornings unloading materials and getting the lines ready. It gets quite loud when everything is running at once. We don’t have a big fancy office, just a small corner where we keep the books and take phone calls. Most of the guys here have been working these machines for a long time. They know exactly when a motor is sounding a bit off. Lawrence Road can be a nightmare for parking, especially when the big delivery trucks show up in the middle of the day. We usually eat our lunch together in the back area. It’s not a glamorous job, and your clothes usually end up covered in some kind of plastic dust or oil. But we like the routine of it. We just focus on making the parts right and getting them boxed up. The days go by fast when the orders are high. We just keep our heads down and do the work that needs doing. That is just how we run things here.
