Getting up to the 12th floor every morning takes forever because the middle elevator always acts up. We are tucked away in Office No. 1203, and it’s usually full of rolled-up posters and boxes of lanyards. Fountainhead Conferences & Exhibition Services Pvt. Ltd. sounds like a long name, but to us, it’s just the place where we spend too many hours looking at floor maps and guest lists. There’s a constant hum of the air conditioner and the sound of someone taping a box shut. We spend a lot of time on the phone, mostly trying to figure out where a shipment went or why a booth isn't the right size. It gets hectic around here, especially when a big event is coming up. My desk is covered in sticky notes that I can never quite organize. Sometimes we look out the window at the city below just to rest our eyes for a minute. It’s not a glamorous job. There is a lot of heavy lifting and checking things twice. We drink way too much tea to stay awake during the late-night planning sessions. People think exhibitions are all lights and stage shows, but for us, it’s mostly about making sure the electricity works and the carpet isn’t tripping anyone. We just keep our heads down and get the logistics sorted. It is a lot of work, but we have gotten used to the pace of it all.
