Exotica Steel

Exotica Steel is tucked into C-58 of the Wazirpur Industrial Area. If you know this part of Delhi, you know how tight the lanes can get. Every morning starts with moving a few things around just to make space for people to walk. We have a lot of steel here and it takes up most of the room. It’s a practical place, built for work rather than looking good. The walls have some marks from where we lean the rods and sheets. We have a couple of desks tucked away in the back but mostly we are out on the floor. The noise from the neighboring units is constant, so you have to speak up a bit when you are talking to someone. We get a lot of dust because of all the grinding and cutting happening nearby. It’s just part of being in this industrial cluster. Most of our regulars know to come in through the side door if the front is blocked by a delivery. We keep a water cooler in the corner which is the most popular spot during the July heat. It’s a simple operation and we don’t spend much time on decorations. We just want to get through the day's list without any major headaches. By five or six, we start winding down and checking the locks. It is a long day but it feels good to stay productive and keep the business moving.
