Down here at Gregfin Farms in Velim, life moves at a different pace than the rest of Goa. We are Nd Wines, and our place is out in Carxetta, which is a pretty quiet corner of Salcette. If you come by, you’ll mostly see us working around the farm or handling the bottling. It isn't a high-tech operation; it's more about the dirt and the fruit and the weather. Some days the humidity is so thick you can barely move, but we have to get the work done anyway. We spend a lot of time checking on the vats and making sure the storage is cool enough. The farm has its own rhythms. During the rainy season, everything gets overgrown so fast and we spend half our time just keeping the paths clear. We aren't a big factory. We are just a local business making wine in a place we know well. People from the village stop by sometimes just to see what’s happening or to pick up a few bottles. There is always something to fix, whether it’s a leaky pipe or a fence that’s falling over. We don't have fancy marketing people. We just have the farm and the wine and the daily chores that come with living and working in rural Goa. It is a lot of manual labor, but seeing the bottles lined up at the end of a long day makes it feel worth it.
