We are just a group of people from around Gokulpur Khadar who decided to get organized. Guddi Devi Farmers Producer Company Limited isn't a big operation with fancy desks. We mostly use Niranjan’s place in the village as our home base when we need to sign papers or talk about the crops. Living out here, you get used to the dirt and the long hours under the sun. Most of us have been farming these fields since we were kids, so we know how the soil feels right before the rain comes. We started this because it was getting harder to handle everything alone. When the harvest comes, there is so much to do and not enough hands or trucks. By working together, we can figure out who has some extra space or who can help move the bags to the market. It is a simple way of living, really. Some days the tractor breaks down or the heat is just too much, and we sit under the trees and wait it out. We don't have any big secrets to success, just a lot of sweat and hoping the prices don't drop too low this year. Everyone in the village knows where to find us if they need something. We keep our tools at the back and our records in a couple of old folders. It is just honest work, day in and day out, trying to make sure our families are okay.
