New Fashion Tailor

New Fashion Tailor is tucked away in Janakpuri at D-2-A/51-C. If you walk past, you will hear the humming of the sewing machines. We have three machines set up near the window for the light. There are scraps of fabric all over the floor by the end of the day. We spend hours cutting cloth and marking it with chalk. The shelves are full of rolls of different colors. We have a big wooden table where all the measuring happens. It is a small space but we make it work. Sometimes the neighbors stop by to chat while we are working on a sleeve or a hem. We use old scissors that have been sharpened many times. The iron is always hot and sitting on its stand. We don't have a big sign out front. People usually know where we are in D-2-A. We work until the sun goes down and then turn on the overhead bulbs. It gets hot in the summer with the machines running. We drink a lot of water and keep the door open. Every suit or shirt takes time and we don't like to rush. Sometimes we have to wait for a specific thread to arrive. We just do what we can with the needles and the cloth we have. It is just a small tailoring shop in a quiet corner of Janakpuri. We keep our notebooks full of measurements and dates.
