Akshay Builders Store

Running Akshay Builders Store at 551 G T Road keeps us pretty busy most days. If you know the Shahdara area, you know how hectic the traffic can get right out front. We are located quite close to the Jindal Oil Mill, which most people use as a landmark when they are trying to find us for the first time. The shop itself is usually a bit dusty because of all the construction materials we keep inside and out. It’s just the way it is when you’re dealing with cement, bricks, and heavy hardware. Every morning starts with pulling up the heavy metal shutters and checking what needs to go out on the trucks. We spend a lot of time on our feet, moving bags around or helping someone figure out how much of a certain material they need for a small home repair. The G T Road is always noisy, so we’ve gotten used to shouting a bit over the sound of the horns and engines while we work. It isn’t a fancy place with air conditioning or a nice waiting area, just a practical shop where things get done. We’ve seen the neighborhood change a lot over the years, but the oil mill is still there and we are still here at number 551. It’s a lot of hard work and long hours, but it’s what we do for the people around Shahdara.
