At A L Quresh Frozen Food Supplier, we spend most of our time around the big freezer units. The shop is in Seelampur, specifically Chauhan Banjar near the Noorani Masjid. You can find us at C-12/93. The hum of the cooling machines is the main sound you hear all day. It is a bit of a maze getting back here through the narrow streets of Seelampur. We deal with all kinds of frozen items that come in big boxes. Moving them around is a bit of a workout. The masjid is close by, so we hear the calls for prayer throughout the day. It is much colder inside the shop than it is out on the street. We wear jackets even when it is boiling outside in Delhi. The floor is concrete and we have to keep it dry so nobody slips. We don't have a lot of space for people to hang around. It is mostly just about loading the vans and getting the frozen stuff to where it needs to go before it thaws. Sometimes the traffic in Seelampur makes that really difficult. We just have to plan the routes carefully. It is a simple operation. We just keep the temperature low and the boxes moving. That is how life goes here. The freezers are the most important part of what we do. If one of them makes a weird noise, we all get a bit nervous. Seelampur is a crowded place and the electricity can be temperamental. Our neighbors at the Noorani Masjid are good people.
