We operate out of D-1 Vashisht Park, which is right opposite Janak Cinema near the Delhi G P O area. Our work is all about elevators, so our place is full of heavy parts, cables, and various tools. It’s a bit of a grease-and-metal environment, as you might expect. We spend a lot of our time out at different buildings fixing lifts or checking that they are running smoothly. When we are back at the shop, we are usually sorting out spare parts or answering calls about repairs. It’s not a glamorous job, but someone has to do it so people don't have to take the stairs. The area around Janak Cinema is always humming with activity, and we’ve been part of this neighborhood for a good stretch of time. Our team is small, and we mostly just wear our work clothes because things get dirty fast. There’s always a motor that needs looking at or a control panel that’s acting up. We don't talk much about things like innovation; we just focus on making sure the lift goes up and down when you press the button. Sometimes a job takes longer than we thought it would because old buildings have strange wiring. We just stay until it’s done. The office part of our building is just a small desk where we keep the logs and receipts.
