Mittal Brass Collections

Chawri Bazar is one of those places you never forget once you've been there even once. We are situated at Plot No. 3594/16 in the Brij Mohan Market. It’s right in the thick of things. As the name says, we deal with brass collections. It’s heavy, it’s shiny, and it’s everywhere in our shop. The lanes here are very narrow, so getting stock in and out is always a bit of a puzzle involving handcarts and a lot of patience. We've seen the market change over the years, but the way we do things hasn't really changed much. We show people the pieces, they feel the weight of the metal, and we talk. It’s a very old-school way of doing business that still works. There's a lot of dust because of the sheer number of people walking by every minute of the day. Our shop isn't big, but it’s packed from floor to ceiling. Sometimes I think we have too much stuff, but then someone comes in looking for one specific brass item and we find it at the bottom of a pile. It’s a family thing, really. We’ve been here in Brij Mohan Market for a long time. It’s not a glamorous job, your hands get that metallic smell that never really goes away even after washing. But there’s something about the sound of brass and the history of this area that makes it feel right. We’re just part of the local fabric here.
