Out here at House Number 375 on Street Number 11 things are usually quite active. We are right on the edge of Delhi and Haryana which gives the place a bit of a different feel than the city center. The building is a regular house that has been turned into a workspace for the women and child development stuff we handle. You can often hear children playing in the street outside while we are trying to get through the daily paperwork. It is a bit of a tight squeeze inside with all the desks and the storage boxes filled with supplies. We don't have a big fancy sign or anything like that so people sometimes walk past us twice before they realize they have found the right spot. The staff here is mostly local people and we spend a lot of time talking to the families who come in to ask for help or advice. It gets quite dusty on this street so we are always wiping down the tables and the computer screens to keep things clean. We have a small backyard where we sometimes sit for five minutes to get away from the ringing phones. The internet can be a bit patchy out here so we do a lot of things by hand just to be safe. It is a lot of work but it feels like a real part of the neighborhood. We just do our best with what we have.
