Kishan Collections

Nai Sarak is famous for its busy shops and we are right there at 5738. Kishan Collections is a family-run place where we sell clothes and different kinds of fabrics. It gets very crowded on the weekends so we usually have a few extra cousins helping out behind the counter. The shop isn't very wide but it goes back a long way into the building. We have mirrors along the walls so people can see how the colors look. It is mostly local people who shop here, but sometimes tourists wander in. Some of the shelves are so high we have to use a wooden ladder to reach the top boxes. We spend a lot of time folding and refolding everything after customers look through the piles. The wooden counter has deep scratches from years of measuring out fabric and sliding heavy boxes across it. We have a small shrine in the corner with some incense that we light every morning before we open the doors. It gives the shop a familiar smell that reminds me of when I was a kid. We don't have a big staff, just us and a couple of guys who have been with us for years. They know the stock as well as we do. Sometimes we sit on the stools outside for a few minutes just to catch a breeze and watch the people passing by. It is a good way to see what people are wearing these days. We just talk to our customers and help them find what they need.
