Huma Carpets

We are located at 2144/26, Ahata Meer Bukhari, right near Turkman Gate. It’s a very old part of town and you can feel it in the narrow lanes. Huma Carpets is just one of many small places squeezed into this area. It can be hard to find if you aren’t looking closely. The air always smells a bit like wool and dust here. We have carpets piled up in the corners and some hanging on the walls where they fit. It’s not a showroom like you see in the magazines. It’s more of a workspace where we keep track of everything. The floor is concrete and stays cool even when it's warm outside. We see a lot of people passing by the Turkman Gate area every single day. Most of them are just locals going about their business. We’ve been here long enough that the sounds of the street just blend into the background for us. Sometimes the power goes out for a bit, so we keep a few torches handy. It’s just part of being in this neighborhood. We drink a lot of chai throughout the day to stay sharp. Usually, someone brings in snacks from the stall down the street. We don’t have fancy signs. People just know where 2144/26 is. It’s a tight space but it’s ours. We just keep working through the piles and keeping the doors open. It’s a long day, but we are used to it.
