We are at Shop 11 in the Old Lajpat Rai Market. If you’ve ever been to this part of Delhi, you know it’s a very tight squeeze. The market is famous for electronics, and we are just one small part of that huge puzzle. Our shop is quite narrow, so we have to stack the boxes all the way to the ceiling to make everything fit. We sell all sorts of electronic components and small gadgets. It’s often very hot in the summer, and the small fan we have doesn't do much against the Delhi heat, but we are used to it by now. The noise from the street outside is constant, with people shouting and carts being pushed around. We’ve been at number 11 for many years, and we know most of the other shopkeepers around us. It’s a very busy way to live. We don't have a lot of time for fancy talk; we just find the parts people need and get them on their way. Sometimes the power goes out in the whole market and we all just sit outside on our stools until it comes back on. It’s a simple life, focused on the inventory and the customers who come looking for a specific transistor or a cable. We just do our bit in the middle of all the chaos of the old market.
