Aart-In-Stones

Our shop is tucked away at 1294, Katra Dhulia, right in the heart of Chandni Chowk. If you know the area, you know how crowded and busy it gets every single day. There’s a constant stream of people and carts moving through the lanes. We work with stones here, so there is always some heavy lifting involved. It’s a dusty job, and we usually end the day with gray marks on our clothes. The space isn’t very big, so we have to be smart about where we put everything. We handle different kinds of stone pieces, and you can often hear the sound of chisels or small grinders going. It’s a lot of sitting on the floor or leaning over workbenches. We don’t have fancy displays; the stones mostly speak for themselves. Sometimes it’s hard to get big pieces in and out because of how narrow the street is, but we’ve found ways to make it work over the years. Chandni Chowk has its own rhythm, and we are just a small part of it. We take our tea breaks when we can and talk to the neighbors who have been here as long as we have. It’s a tough environment because of the heat and the noise, but it’s where we’ve always been. We just keep doing the work, one stone at a time, without making much of a fuss about it.
