Joygopalpur Women Primary Producer Company Limited

In Joygopalpur, things are mostly run by the hard-working women in our group. Joygopalpur Women Primary Producer Company Limited is based right here in the village. We use the post office in Joygopalpur too, and we are part of the Sandeshkhali-II block. It’s a quiet area in North 24 Pargana, surrounded by water and fields. We started this because we wanted a way to manage our own produce and have a bit of a say in how things are sold. It’s not a big corporate operation. We meet in a small room or sometimes at someone's house to figure out the week's work. Most of us are busy with our homes and kids too, so we fit the company work in whenever we can. The boat ride to get here can be long for some, but it’s just part of life in Sandeshkhali. We deal with primary products, whatever the land gives us. There’s no fancy equipment or high-tech systems here. We use our hands and our common sense. Sometimes we argue about how things should be done, but we always figure it out in the end. It’s a community thing more than a business thing. We don't have a big sign outside, just the knowledge that this is our place. People know where to find us if they need anything related to the local produce. We’re just local women trying to make things work for our families and our village.
