Down in Mediahat, things move at a certain pace. We are based out of Tapan Mondal’s place here in the village. This is North 24 Parganas, and if you know the area, you know it’s mostly about the land and what we can get out of it. Aangona Farmer Producer Company Limited is just a group of us who live nearby. We spend a lot of time talking about the weather and the dirt. It isn't a fancy office with glass walls or anything like that. It’s just a spot where we gather to figure out the crops and the seeds for the next season. Some days are long, especially when the sun is heavy, but that’s just how it goes here. We don't have a big marketing team. Most of our news travels by word of mouth while we’re standing on the road or sitting under a tree. People know where Tapan lives, so they just drop by when they need to discuss business or farm stuff. We keep our records in simple books and try to make sure everyone gets a fair shake. It’s about the community in Mediahat more than anything else. You see the same faces every day, and we all know whose field is doing well and whose isn't. It’s honest work, and we don’t try to make it sound like something it’s not. We’re just local people doing what we know best.
