Sharma Provisional Stores

Running Sharma Provisional Stores at Ramesh Nagar B-68 is what I do every day. It’s been my life for a while now. The shop isn't very big, so we have to use every inch of the walls to hang packets of chips and spices. If you come in, you’ll probably see me sitting on a stool near the entrance. I like to keep an eye on the street. Ramesh Nagar is a busy area, especially around B-68 where the houses are close together. I know who likes which brand of tea and who always asks for a discount on oil. I don't give many discounts, but I listen to their stories. The shelves are wooden and a bit old now, but they hold up the heavy jars of pickles just fine. Sometimes the rain leaks a little near the back door, so I have to move the flour bags. It’s just how it is. My son helps out after his classes, but mostly it is me. We don’t have fancy signs or anything. Just the name painted above the door. People know we are here. I spend a lot of time just sweeping the floor because the dust from the road never stops coming in. It’s a simple life, really. I close up when the street lights come on and head home just a few blocks away. It is what it is.
