Shankar Sweets

Vasundhra is a nice area, a bit more organized than the older parts of the city. Shankar Sweets is in Sector 13, specifically at Plot No 13/5 C in the Ganpati Complex. It’s a decent building. We’ve been here for a while now. Most of the people who come in are from the apartments nearby. They come in for something sweet after dinner or for snacks in the evening. I usually spend my time at the back where we do the cooking. It’s hot back there, but I’m used to it. The front of the shop is where my nephew sits. He’s better with the customers than I am. Ganpati Complex is a busy little hub in Sector 13. There’s a chemist and a grocery store right next to us. We all know each other. Sometimes we swap stories when business is slow. The address is pretty specific, so people don’t usually have trouble finding us. We keep the display cases clean, though it’s a constant battle with the fingerprints from the kids. We don't do any big advertising. Word of mouth works best in a place like Vasundhra. People know if the food is good or not. We just try to be consistent. It’s a lot of work, especially during the holidays when everyone wants sweets. But it’s a good life. We’re just a local shop doing our best every day for the neighborhood folks.
