Our place is over at A-51 in Sector No. 10. It’s an industrial block, so don't expect anything too pretty on the outside. It’s a grey building with a heavy metal door that sticks in the rain. Inside is where everything happens for Natasha Handbags. We have rows of sewing machines and tables covered in leather and fabric scraps. The smell of glue and material is pretty strong when you first walk in, but you stop noticing it after ten minutes. We’ve been here for several years now. It’s a lot of hard work, especially when we have a big order to finish by Friday. The workers are mostly from the local area, and we all know each other's families by now. We don't have a fancy office with leather chairs. My desk is just a wooden table in the corner with a lamp that flickers. We focus on making the bags right. Sometimes a machine breaks down and we have to spend half the day fixing it ourselves. It’s not always smooth, but we get it done. Lunch breaks are usually spent sitting outside on the steps if the weather is okay. We aren't a big corporate machine. We are just a group of people making bags in a warehouse in Sector 10. That’s the reality of it. You can hear the hum of the neighboring units too, since everyone is busy at the same time. The trucks come and go all day long, kicking up dust in the yard. We just keep our heads down and stay on task.
