About Saraswati Keramics & Art – Housewares & Supplies in Noida
Saraswati Keramics & Art is tucked away in Bhaskar Bhavan, which is A-5 in Sector 6. It’s more of a workshop than a store. We have wheels for throwing clay and a kiln that we run mostly at night when the electricity is more stable. The floor is almost always a bit grey from the clay dust. We try to sweep it, but it just comes back. There are shelves along every wall filled with pots and tiles that are waiting to be fired or painted. We do a lot of the work ourselves, so our hands are usually stained with something. It’s a quiet area of the sector, so we can focus on what we are making without too many distractions. Sometimes we have tea with the people from the neighboring units. We don't have a big marketing plan; people usually find us because someone told them about our work. The windows are large, which helps with the light, but it gets very hot in the summer months. We have a few fans going, but they just move the warm air around. We take our time with each piece, so things don't happen very fast here. It’s a slow process from wet clay to a finished piece of art. We just keep at it day by day and hope for the best results when we open the kiln.
