Sanjay Provision Stores

Our shop, Sanjay Provision Stores, is right in the middle of Shakarpur at Veer Savarkar Block 41635. It is a crowded area and we have been here for a long time. The shelves are packed with everything from bags of rice to small bars of soap. It gets very tight inside when more than three people are standing at the counter. We usually start the day early, around seven, to get the milk and bread sorted for the morning rush. People from the block come in constantly for things they forgot to buy earlier. The floor is a bit worn out from all the walking but it holds up. We don't really have a system for where everything goes, we just know where it is. Sometimes a box of biscuits is next to the washing powder because that was the only empty spot. It is a bit noisy with the traffic outside on the main Shakarpur roads. We spend a lot of time talking to the neighbors about how the prices are going up. It’s not a fancy supermarket, just a local store where you can get what you need for dinner. We write down the accounts in a big book and try to keep track of who owes what. It’s simple work and keeps us busy from morning until late at night when we finally pull the shutters down.
