Sadar Bazar is always busy, especially here at number 279. We opened Optic House quite a long time ago. My father used to handle things before I took over. Most days start with dusting the glass counters and making sure the frames look decent. Roshan Pura has changed a lot since we started. There are more shops now and the traffic is definitely worse. People come in mostly for basic reading glasses or to fix a broken bridge. We keep a lot of frames in the drawers because the display space isn't huge. It gets crowded in the evenings when everyone is coming home from work. Sometimes we just sit and talk with the neighbors while having tea. Promotion isn't really our thing; most people just know we are here. If someone needs a quick repair, we do it right then if we aren't too tied up. It is a simple life running a shop in this part of town. The light inside could be better but we manage. We’ve seen kids grow up and now they bring their own children here for their first pair of spectacles. It makes the day go by faster when you know the faces walking through the door. I usually stay until about eight or nine depending on the crowd. It is just how it is around Roshan Pura. I try to keep things organized but sometimes the stock gets a bit mixed up. It’s just me and one other person helping out.
