Om Bikaner Sweet & Caterers

We are right on the Main Road in Gijhod, tucked into the Pooja Market in Sector 53. It’s a spot that’s hard to miss if you’re driving by in the evening. There is almost always a stack of crates or some large cooking pots sitting out near the back entrance. Inside, it’s bright and smells like sugar and fried dough all day long. We spend most of the morning getting the glass displays ready. Those counters get smudged with fingerprints pretty quickly once the kids start coming in after school. We’ve got a lot of different trays filled with stuff we made that morning. When we do catering, the whole place gets even more chaotic with people carrying big containers out to the trucks parked on the road. It’s a lot of work and our shoes are usually covered in flour or sugar by the time noon rolls around. The ceiling fans spin all day long but it still stays warm near the kitchen area. People stop in on their way home to grab a box of something for their families. We see a lot of the same people every week. The market outside is always bustling with people buying vegetables or getting their shoes fixed. We’ve been here long enough that we feel like part of the pavement. It’s a simple setup, really, just us and the food and the people of Gijhod coming through the doors day after day.
