Neeraj Sweet Corner

If you find yourself on Jantar Mantar Road near the 7th Mile Stone, you'll see us right there by the Giani Boarder in Chikambarpur. It’s a busy spot because of all the people traveling through the area. We’ve got the typical sweet shop setup with the big kadhais for frying and the rows of sweets in the front. It gets dusty outside because of the road, so we spend a lot of time cleaning the glass. People stop their cars or bikes to get a tea or some pakoras while they take a break from the road. It’s not a quiet place, there is always the sound of trucks and horns in the background. We make the sweets every morning, usually starting before the sun is even up properly. The smell of frying sugar and oil is just part of the air here. We have a few benches for people to sit, but most just stand around or take their stuff to go. Neeraj is usually around, making sure the trays are full and the tea is hot. It’s hard work being on your feet all day, but we are used to it by now. The border area has changed a lot over the years, with more buildings and more traffic, but our corner stays pretty much the same. We just keep the fire going and the sweets ready for whoever stops by next on their journey.
