Monika Saree Palace

Our shop is V-55 in Teena Market, right in the Harola area of Sector 5. It is a very crowded place, but that is the charm of Harola. Monika Saree Palace has been here for years. It is not really a palace, just a regular shop with a lot of fabric packed into it. We have sarees from all over, mostly cotton and some silk. People come from all over Sector 5 because they know we have been here forever. The streets in Teena Market are narrow, so you have to walk to get to us. Parking is always a problem, so most of our customers come on foot or by rickshaw. We have a small television in the corner that we watch when things are slow. Usually, it is quite busy though. The humidity in the summer makes the fabric feel heavy, but we keep the fans going. We don't have a big staff. It is just me and my nephew most days. We know where every single piece is kept, even if it looks like a mess to someone else. Harola is a place where everyone is trying to make it. We are just one part of that. We don't have fancy bags or labels. We just wrap things in paper and thank the customer. It’s a simple way to do business and it works for us. We just keep the doors open and wait for customers to find something they like.
