We are located out in Ecotech II, in the Udyog Vihar Extension area. It’s a bit of a drive to get here but there is plenty of space for the machines. At Manikya Creations, we handle a lot of fabric and sewing work. The floor is usually covered in little bits of thread and scraps of cloth by the end of the shift. We have these big tables where the cutting happens and rows of stitching machines that make a lot of noise. It gets pretty warm in the afternoons, so we have the big fans running all the time. Our team is mostly people from the local area who know how to handle the needles and the patterns. We don't spend much time in the front office because the real work is happening in the back. It’s not a glamorous job. We deal with bulk orders mostly, so it’s about repetition and making sure the seams are straight. Sometimes a machine breaks down and we have to wait for the repair guy, which throws everything off. We just try to stay on schedule. The industrial area is still growing, so there is always construction going on next door. We’ve been in this building for some time now and it feels like home. We just keep producing what’s asked of us and try to keep the quality consistent without making a big fuss about it.
