You can find us up on the second floor at Chah Indara, near Ajmeri Gate. Being on the second floor means we don’t get as many random walk-ins as the shops on the ground, but people who know where we are always find their way up. The stairs are a bit steep, so we tell everyone to be careful. We keep a variety of general items that people in the neighborhood need. It's a bit of everything, really. From basic household goods to little bits and pieces you can't find elsewhere. The building itself is old, like most things around Ajmeri Gate, and it has that specific smell of old bricks and dust. We’ve had to reorganize the shelves many times to fit everything in. It gets a bit hot in the afternoons because the ventilation isn't the best, but we've got a couple of fans going. We aren't trying to be a big supermarket. We’re just a local store run by people who live nearby. Some days we're just rearranging stock and waiting for the afternoon rush. It’s a lot of work climbing those stairs with boxes, but we’re used to it by now. The noise from the street below always filters up, so it never feels too quiet. We just keep things moving and try to have what people are looking for. It’s a straightforward way to earn a living without any big fuss or complicated systems.
