Annapurna Sweet is located in Gali No 2 of Village Chhalera, right in Sector 44. It’s been here for a long time, and we’ve seen the village change a lot around us. We start our work very early in the morning when the milk trucks arrive. The shop isn't very big, and it can get quite hot near the large frying pans where we make the jalebis and samosas. We don't have any fancy seating areas or waiters. Most people just stand at the counter or take their sweets home in a box. The floor gets a bit messy with flour and sugar during the festival seasons, but we try our best to keep up with the rush. We don't use any big machines to make our sweets; it's all done by hand by a few workers who have been with us for years. You can usually find us sitting behind the glass counter, chatting with the locals who come in for their daily snacks. We don't spend money on advertising or shiny signs. The smell of the sweets usually brings people in anyway. Sector 44 is a busy place, but Gali No 2 has its own quiet moments in the afternoon. We just keep doing what we know, making fresh sweets every day and hoping the stock finishes by the time we close the shutters at night. It’s a simple life in a busy village.
