Ambey General Store

My name is at the top of the sign but mostly I just sit here at Ambey General Store in Noida Sector 34. The shop is at 21/13/B. It’s not a huge place or anything, just a regular general store where we keep the things people need every day. I start early in the morning because that’s when everyone wants their bread and milk. Sometimes the crates arrive a bit late and it’s a mess on the floor, but we get through it. It’s been a few years now at this spot in 21/13/B. People in the neighborhood know us. I spend a lot of time just rearranging jars of biscuits or checking the dates on the snacks. It gets a bit dusty because the road is right there, so I’m always wiping things down with an old cloth. It’s just me and sometimes a helper. We don’t have fancy displays. Just metal shelves and some plastic bins. If someone asks for something we don’t have, I try to remember to get it next time the supplier comes around. That’s how it goes here. Nothing too exciting happens, just neighbors coming in to buy soap or some pulses for dinner. I like the routine of it. We open up, sweep the front, and wait for the first person to walk in. It's a quiet life in Sector 34, really. We just keep the lights on and the shelves full of common items people use.
