Our office and warehouse for the All India Handloom Fabrics Marketing Co-Operative Society Ltd. is over at C-62/63 in the Hosiery Complex, Phase-Ii. It is a large space because we have a lot of fabric to store. Being part of a co-operative means things work a bit differently here than in a private company. We have to coordinate with a lot of different people and weavers from all over. The Hosiery Complex is a busy area with a lot of trucks and workers moving fabric around all day. It can get pretty hectic in the mornings when the new shipments arrive. We spend a lot of time checking the quality of the handloom stuff and making sure it is stored properly so it doesn't get damaged by the moisture or the dust. The office is tucked away in one corner of the building, and it is usually full of samples and ledgers. We don't really do much in the way of promotion. The society has been around for a long time, and people know where to find us. It is not a glamorous job, and the building is quite old and could probably use a coat of paint. But we just focus on the task at hand, which is getting the fabric from the weavers to the market. It is steady work, and we just take it one day at a time. It is a simple life for us here in the complex.
