Agra Sweets is situated in B Block, right at the start of Sector 15. The first thing we do every morning is start the big vats of milk and sugar. The steam fills up the front area and makes the windows fog up when it’s cold outside. We have rows of glass counters filled with different trays, and we spend a lot of time moving them around so the fresh stuff is at the front. The floor is usually a bit sticky despite us mopping it twice a day, mostly because of the syrup that seems to get everywhere. People come in and out all day, some just for a quick snack and others buying boxes for a party. We have a few benches along the wall, but they are usually piled with empty cardboard boxes waiting to be folded. The staff wears these simple aprons that always have a few flour spots on them by noon. It’s a loud place because of the exhaust fans and the people shouting their orders over the counter. Sector 15 is a busy residential area, so we see a lot of the same faces every week. We don’t have any fancy decorations, just the food in the cases and a small calendar hanging behind the register. It’s just a normal sweet shop doing its thing. There is a big clock on the wall that is five minutes slow, but we haven't gotten around to fixing it yet because the day just moves too fast.
